All Inclusive will shape tourism in 2025

Hotels.com today unveiled Explore '25, its annual data-driven look at what motivates guests and where they want to visit next year.

Hotels.com analyzed first-party travel data, insights from 25,000 guests and the latest industry innovations to “discover” six key travel trends for 20251. Hotels.com has identified the Rebirth of Hotel Restaurants and the All-Inclusive Era as the leading travel trends for the coming year, with additional trends expected to influence the way we travel in 2025.

“Expedia Group is constantly striving to blend technology with travel, making it easier and more enjoyable,” said Ariane Gorin, CEO of Expedia Group. The Explore report is an opportunity for us to see what guests want and how our partners are innovating.”

The Rebirth of Hotel Restaurants: When booking a hotel, guests don't just book a room, they also book dinner. In fact, two-fifths (41%) of Turkish guests say they like the idea of having dinner at a restaurant, knowing they are staying overnight at the same hotel.2. Hotels around the world have opened critically acclaimed restaurants with Michelin-starred chefs and rotating seasonal menus to attract guests.

All Inclusive Era: All-inclusive resorts offer more than just families looking for fun in the sun by the pool. Today's all-inclusive options are attracting Gen Z looking for stress-free stays and a good deal. Two-fifths (43%) of Turkish Gen Z guests say the perception of all-inclusive hotels is changing for the better, and 53% say their preferred hotel type will be all-inclusive accommodations. Beachfront hotels top the list of all-inclusive hotel types for Turkish Gen Z in 2025 (62%)

Goods Getaways: TikTok inspired guests to travel in search of special products they adore (and are worth sharing). Whether it's an internet-famous chocolate bar from Dubai, butter from France, skincare products from Korea or Japanese candy, guests are making extra room in their bags for their unique tastes, even building their entire trip around buying these products.

List of natural phenomena: Guests booked travel along the path of the eclipse to see the total solar eclipse in 2024, proving the great distances people will travel to see natural phenomena in real life. Survey data revealed that the Northern Lights (55%) was the natural phenomenon Turkish guests most wanted to see, followed by the solar eclipse (41%) and geological phenomena such as volcanoes, geysers and hot springs (29%). 88% of Swedish guests say it's important to stay in accommodation where they can best observe these natural wonders, so it's no surprise that accommodation in secluded locations is ideal for natural wonder seekers.

Alternative Holiday Destinations: In the coming year, guests will not only be visiting the tried and true tourist destinations, they will also be adding alternative destinations to their plans. These resorts are close to popular hotspots, making them ideal day-trip destinations, but are also in demand as major attractions. Seeking less crowded and less well-known destinations, 76% of Turkish travelers say they would visit an Alternative Holiday Center on their next trip.
