Tourists visiting Rome's iconic Trevi Fountain, also known as the ‘Fountain of Love’, are now being charged an entrance fee.

The new entry system planned for the Trevi Fountain, one of the city's most popular tourist attractions, was officially launched yesterday, as announced by Rome Mayor Roberto Gualtieri on December 19, 2025. Under the new system, which began yesterday, visitors wishing to approach the pool area of the historic structure will be charged a fee of 2 euros.

Under the new regulation, paid visiting hours vary between weekdays and weekends. Visitors will be charged between 11:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on weekdays and between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. on weekends. Visiting the fountain will remain free of charge during the hours between 10:00 p.m. and dawn, as before.

Residents of Rome, children under the age of 6, people with disabilities, and groups arriving with guided tours will not be affected by this regulation. Entry will be free for these individuals.
