Russians' interest in traveling abroad during the New Year holidays rose by 48%
Travel plans abroad gained momentum in
Russia ahead of the 2026 New Year holidays.
Online hotel and apartment booking service Ostrovok
analyzed hotel and apartment reservations made by Russian citizens between
December 26 and January 11. Demand for overseas travel during the 2026 New Year
holidays among Russians increased by 48%.
According to the service's data, the most popular destinations
were predominantly Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries, as well
as countries in Asia and the Middle East. The top 10 countries were Belarus,
Thailand, Türkiye, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Uzbekistan, Georgia,
Kazakhstan, Armenia, Abkhazia, and China. (Gazetem.ru)
