Korean Air to discontinue serving instant noodles on-flight amid rising turbulence risk

To mitigate these risks, Korean Air will offer microwavable snacks such as pizzas, corn dogs, and hot pockets.

Korean Air will be discontinuing serving instant cup noodles to passengers later this month due to safety concerns related to increased turbulence. Beginning 15 August 2024, the airline will replace Shin Ramen Cup Noodles—its only instant noodle option on long-haul flights—with "safer" alternatives such as sandwiches, corn dogs, and hot pockets.

According to an article by The Korea Times, the decision will only affect economy class passengers, as the compact design of these seats increases the risk of spills and injuries.
