Spain's Ministry of Health reported that
1060 people died in the country in July due to extreme heat.
Warning the public against the new heat wave that has
been affecting Spain since August 3, the Ministry of Health announced the
number of deaths due to heat in July. "In July, 1060 deaths occurred due
to high temperatures. This number is 57 percent higher than the same period
last year. Heat is lethal and poses a serious health risk. Stay safe; drink
plenty of water, protect yourself and take care of those who need it
most."
The statement noted that the majority of people who
died due to extreme heat were patients with chronic and pathological conditions
and the elderly.
