Saudi Arabia welcomed 116 million tourists in 2024

In 2024, Saudi Arabia hosted a total of
116 million tourists from both home and abroad. Tourism expenditures increased
by 11 percent compared to the previous year and reached 284 billion riyals.
Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Tourism published the
Tourism Sector Statistics Report for 2024. In the report, it was emphasized
that tourism in the country gained momentum for the second consecutive year and
the sector continued to grow.
Minister of Tourism Ahmed Al Khateeb said in a
statement on the report that this strong performance was possible with the
guidance and support of the country's leadership. Al Khateeb said that tourism
has now become one of the cornerstones of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 and that
the Ministry and all stakeholders in the ecosystem have contributed greatly to
the growth of the sector.
According to data, in 2024, the total number of
tourists increased by nearly 6% to 116 million. Approximately 30 million of
these visits came from abroad, while 86.2 million were domestic trips.
The country recorded an 8 percent increase in the
number of visitors from abroad, reaching the highest number of foreign tourists
in its history. The expenditures made within the scope of these visits
increased by 19 percent to 168.5 billion riyals in 2024.
Domestic tourism also continued its steady growth.
86.2 million domestic tourists traveled to the country, spending 115.3 billion
riyals.
