In
Spain's Mallorca Island, thousands of people held a demonstration against the
negative impacts of mass tourism.
According to a report on Euronews, the organizers of
the march argue that the uncontrolled increase in the number of tourists has
led to a decrease in wages for island residents, a decline in quality of life,
noise pollution, and an increase in both rental and purchase prices of housing.
Pere Joan Feminia, spokesperson for the 'Less Tourism,
More Life' platform that organized the rally, said, "It is time to say
enough. We want concrete measures to limit and reduce the number of tourists
coming here and to improve the well-being of the local population."
