In
the Italian city of Florence, a tourist caused outrage by climbing the statue
of Bacchus, the Roman god of wine, and posing in 'obscene' positions.
According to a report on the BBC, a photo shared on
social media shows the tourist kissing the statue, while other photos depict
her in sexual poses. The rapidly spreading photos sparked outrage on social
media, with some users even calling for the tourist to be arrested.
Patrizia Asproni, president of the Confcultura
foundation, which promotes Italy's cultural heritage, told Italian media,
"This display of rudeness and barbarism keeps repeating because everyone
believes they have the right to do whatever they want without facing any
consequences."
Asproni advocated for "strict supervision, high
fines, and zero tolerance" for such behaviors.
