In January 2025, accommodation establishments in Germany recorded 25.9 million overnight stays by domestic and foreign guests.

According to preliminary results from the Federal Statistical Office, this was 3.1% more than in January 2024. This was the highest January figure since 2020, when there were 26.9 million overnight stays.

Significant increase in the number of domestic guests

The number of overnight stays by domestic guests rose by 4.2% year-on-year to 21.6 million in January 2025. In contrast, the number of overnight stays by guests from abroad fell by 1.9% year-on-year to 4.3 million.

All figures relate to accommodation establishments (hotels, inns and guesthouses, vacation accommodation and similar accommodation, campsites and other tourism-related accommodation) with at least ten beds or ten pitches on campsites.
