The North Korean government suddenly
suspended the touristic tours launched last month to the city of Rason, which
did not accept tourists for about 5 years after the Covid-19 pandemic.
While North Korea continues to make a name for itself
with its nuclear weapons and ballistic missile program, this time it came to
the agenda with its tourism move. The North Korean government, which did not
accept tourists to the country for about 5 years after the Covid-19 pandemic,
suspended the touristic tours to the city of Rason last month with a sudden
decision.
In a statement made by the China-based Koryo Tours
company, which takes foreign tourists to North Korea, “We have been informed
that our tours to Rason have been temporarily suspended”. In the statement,
which did not give details about the reason for the decision, it was stated
that up-to-date information will be announced to the public in the future.
Young Pioneer Tours (YPT), another China-based tourism
agency, confirmed the suspension of tours to Rason and said, “We have been
informed by our partners in North Korea that tours to Rason have been stopped.
We are working to clarify how this will affect upcoming travel.”
