The first data from the black box in the
plane crash that killed 179 people at South Korea's Muan Airport has been
received.
The Boeing 737-800 type plane of Jeju Air departing
from Bangkok hit a wall at the end of the runway and caught fire after making a
forced landing at Muan International Airport on Sunday, December 29. Of the 181
people on board, 179 died and 2 crew members were rescued.
South Korea's Ministry of Transportation announced
that investigators opened one of the black boxes of the crashed plane and
examined the data inside. The data obtained from the cockpit voice recorder
will be analyzed by the investigators and converted into an audio file. The
second black box, the flight data recorder, will then be sent to the US for
analysis.
Investigations into the cause of the crash continue.
