A state of emergency was declared after a case of H5N1 (Avian Influenza) was seen in a person living in the US state of California.

It was announced that a person living in California came into contact with infected chickens. California Governor Gavin Newsom announced yesterday that a state of emergency was declared across the state due to the increase in bird flu cases in the state and across the country. “This declaration is a targeted action to ensure that state agencies have the resources and flexibility they need to respond quickly to this outbreak,” Newsom said in a statement.
