State of emergency declared in California

A state of emergency was declared after a
case of H5N1 (Avian Influenza) was seen in a person living in the US state of
California.
It was announced that a person living in California
came into contact with infected chickens. California Governor Gavin Newsom
announced yesterday that a state of emergency was declared across the state due
to the increase in bird flu cases in the state and across the country. “This
declaration is a targeted action to ensure that state agencies have the
resources and flexibility they need to respond quickly to this outbreak,”
Newsom said in a statement.
What Is Bird Flu?
Avian influenza is known as a disease caused by
viruses called Avian Influenza Virus (AIV), which usually affects birds but can
sometimes infect other animals and humans.The H5N1 virus can affect the
digestive and respiratory systems of birds and can sometimes be fatal. In
humans, avian influenza is usually transmitted through direct contact with
infected animals.
