Unauthorized construction work on 10-story hotel collapses in Argentina

In Argentina, 1 person lost his life as a
result of the collapse of a 10-storey hotel where construction work was carried
out without the necessary permits.
The 10-storey Dubrovnik Hotel, which was under
construction without the necessary permits in Villa Gesell district of Buenos
Aires province of Argentina, collapsed yesterday morning. After the collapse,
search and rescue teams started to work on the wreckage of the hotel without
slowing down, while it was reported that 1 person has been rescued so far. It
was announced that 1 person in his 80s died as a result of the collapse in the
hotel where at least 15 people were staying.
Local authorities announced that construction work on
the hotel was halted by the municipality in August without proper permits,
while residents in the vicinity said that work continued.
Argentine National Security Minister Patricia Bullrich
announced that two teams of experts were sent to the scene.
Javier Alonso, Minister of Security of the Province of
Buenos Aires, said that 4 bricklayers working on the construction site survived
the cave-in and were detained by the police. Alonso stated that according to
preliminary data, the possibility that the work was carried out on the first
floor of the hotel is being emphasized.
