Wyndham signs deal for 40 Microtel by Wyndham hotels in India

Exclusive development agreement signed with NILE Hospitality LLP to open 40 hotels by 2031.

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has signed an exclusive development agreement with NILE Hospitality LLP to bring the Microtel by Wyndham brand to India. With this agreement, Wyndham's brand presence in the country will increase to 8 brands. With this strategic partnership, Wyndham brings its award-winning brand to India with the support of one of the region's leading hotel developers and operators.

Backed by Wyndham's global strength and NILE's expertise in the Indian market, Wyndham expects to open 40 hotels by 2031, all of which are directly part of Wyndham's franchise network. The company currently has 60 hotels open in India, one of the world's most dynamic and growing markets for hospitality, and expects to grow by at least 25 percent over the next 18 months.

The Microtel by Wyndham brand stands out in the economy segment of the hospitality industry with its efficiency, modern design and budget-friendly experiences. With Wyndham's agreement with NILE, the Microtel by Wyndham brand will be developed in tier two, three and four cities in line with India's infrastructure development plan, with the first hotels opening in 2025. The hotels, each with at least 50 rooms, will have meeting and event spaces, gyms and other amenities, depending on demand in the region.

Dimitris Manikis, President, EMEA, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said: “We continue to see incredible opportunities in India and are focused on bringing more of our wide range of brands to the country as a strategic priority. Microtel is a great example of a brand that can be tailored to the needs of the market. By continuing our collaborations with trusted partners such as NILE Hospitality, we are able to rapidly grow our volume to meet growing demand.”

Vikram Singh Chauhan, Founder and CEO of NILE Hospitality LLP said, “At NILE, we see Wyndham as a proven partner and together we aim to capitalize on the opportunities in the rapidly expanding economy segment of the Indian hospitality industry in this new chapter of our development story. By bringing Microtel to India, we are leveraging the volume and resources of the world's largest franchised hotel company while accelerating our development activities in the strong domestic market. We see this as an ideal partnership and a reflection of our commitment to grow and build together.”
