UAE partially closes airspace for one week

The United Arab Emirates announced that it has partially closed its national airspace for one week.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) stated that, as part of regional security measures following attacks allegedly originating from Iran targeting the country’s territory, it has partially closed its national airspace to traffic for one week. Information regarding the matter was provided in a NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) issued by UAE aviation authorities. It was noted that the Flight Information Region (FIR) operated by Emirates Airlines will be partially closed from May 4 to May 11. Under the decision, commercial flights will only be permitted to operate through designated special transit points and via narrow corridors.

Meanwhile, the UAE press announced that education at all higher education institutions nationwide would be conducted remotely for three days. In a statement regarding the matter, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research stated that education at all higher education institutions in the country would be conducted “temporarily via remote learning from Tuesday, May 5, to Friday, May 8, 2026.”
