The U.S. Department of State announced that, as part of the celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the country’s independence, a limited number of specially designed passports featuring a portrait of President Donald Trump will be printed.
As the U.S. continues its preparations for July, the
250th anniversary of its independence, the design of the special passports to
be released as part of the celebrations has been revealed. U.S. State
Department Spokesperson Tommy Pigott stated in a statement that the new
passports, which will be printed in limited quantities to commemorate this
historic event, will feature an image of U.S. President Donald Trump on their
inner pages.
According to the draft design shared with the public,
the new passports—valid for 10 years—will feature the text of the Declaration
of Independence, the U.S. flag, and President Trump’s portrait on the inside
cover. Below the image will be President Trump’s signature in gold ink. Another
page of the passport will feature a section from painter John Trumbull’s
painting depicting the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of
Independence. The back cover of the passport will also feature the number “250”
surrounded by stars representing the original 13 U.S. colonies, along with an
image of the American flag from 1777.
It was reported that these special passports, which
are planned to be issued only in the capital, Washington, D.C., will continue
to include the same standard security features as current passports. In other
states, the standard passport design will continue to be used.
