The excitement of Formula 1 returned to Istanbul after five years

To mark Formula 1’s return to Türkiye after a five-year hiatus, Red Bull Racing Test and Reserve Driver Yuki Tsunoda arrived in Istanbul.

A historic agreement to reinstate the Formula 1 Turkish Grand Prix on the calendar starting in 2027 was announced today with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The partnership, which will ensure that Istanbul Park remains on the Formula 1 calendar for at least five years, was signed during a ceremony held at the Presidential Office in Dolmabahçe. Following the speeches, President Erdoğan and members of the protocol pressed the start button, and the Formula 1 car driven by Japanese F1 driver Yuki Tsunoda set off from Galataport.

Over the course of two days, the Oracle Red Bull Racing car, driven by Yuki Tsunoda, toured Istanbul’s iconic landmarks and the city’s historical and cultural sites. The car’s journey, which began at Dolmabahçe, continued past Haydarpaşa Port and the Maiden’s Tower, bringing the excitement of Formula 1 back to the streets of Istanbul after a five-year hiatus.

Red Bull reserve driver Yuki Tsunoda said he was happy to be in Istanbul, stating, “It’s a wonderful feeling to be back in Istanbul. Last time, I didn’t have much of a chance to explore. This time, I’ve been able to tour the city and enjoy some delicious food. Istanbul Park is a fantastic track. It’s a real pleasure to drive here.”
