It has been reported that 30 people lost their lives in a stampede at the historic Laferriere Castle in Haiti.
The Haitian press reported that a large number of
tourists attended the traditional celebration held at the historic Laferriere
Castle in the north of the country. It was noted that the organizers’ decision
to open only a single entry and exit point to control the crowd led to the
stampede. It was reported that 30 people lost their lives and many others were
injured as a result of the stampede.
Built in the 19th century and listed as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site, Laferriere Castle is known as one of Haiti’s most important
