The
German Travel Insurance Fund (DRSF) has initiated the refund process for
consumers affected by the bankruptcy of FTI Touristik GmbH or BigXtra Touristik
GmbH.
In a statement, the German Travel Insurance Fund
(DRSF) said: “The German Travel Insurance Fund (DRSF) protects consumers who
were affected by the bankruptcy of FTI Touristik GmbH or BigXtra Touristik GmbH
and who booked package tours under Section 651a BGB or related travel services
under Section 651w BGB.
The process for refunding deposits for canceled trips
and for making on-site payments to continue trips that have already started in
the holiday regions has begun. This means that the DRSF will now actively
contact all eligible consumers who have provided the necessary contact information
via email.
The DRSF carefully checks the received data. Due to
the volume of data and the complexity of the information, this process may take
some time. If there are any questions regarding the provided information, the
DRSF will contact the affected consumers. We assure all eligible consumers that
we will complete the refund process as quickly as possible. Initial refunds can
be made shortly.
Consumers whose data has not yet been submitted to the
DRSF will have the opportunity to register for the refund process and submit
the necessary data at a later time. These consumers will be contacted first by
mail. They will then be able to submit their data directly using the online
form on the DRSF website.”
