It has been reported that all airports in
Greece have been closed due to frequency issues.
It was stated that a technical problem experienced on
some radio frequencies used in regional control centers in Greece starting at
09:00 local time negatively affected communication between air traffic
controllers and pilots.
Authorities noted that landings and takeoffs at
airports across the country had been temporarily suspended and that planes were
being diverted to different airports.
The Greek press announced that Athens Chief Prosecutor
Aristidis Korias had launched an urgent investigation into the technical
malfunction that caused flights to be canceled at airports yesterday. It was
stated that the investigation, to be conducted by the Electronic Crimes
Department, would look into the source of the problem affecting Greek airspace.
